Memon and her hubby , James Baribeau , startedBroken Tail Foster and Rescue , a register nonprofit , last class . They also opened Oh My Dog , a retail pet store in Lincoln , Rhode Island . The retail store helps fund the rescue organization . They sell detent toy , food , collars and leashes , and they proffer breeding and training services as well . After disbursement , the store profits about 20 per centum of their sales . All of that money run back to Broken Tail .
In true entrepreneurial fashion , Memon describes her thought process like this :
“ I ’ve been studying other rescues since I commence , and , I was thinking , how can a saving be ego - sufficient ? And I thought , well if you ’re take in heel , you now have customers . And those customers need food , grooming , embarkment and training . Why not offer those services ? ”

Since she started doing this work in Florida four yr ago , Memon says she has rescued about 400 wienerwurst – 50 of them from Rhode Island . She says that her initial purpose was to work with dogs in the South . She did n’t realize that there was just as much need in New England , and all parts of the country for that affair . Memon say that these type ofpuppy millestablishments are a huge job in New England , and that is what brought her back home .
Some of the dogs that Broken Tail rescues are from “ backyard breeders ” who do not worry about the well-being of the dogs , but rather are just look for a way to make some quick money . Others are “ stroke ” who are born to dogs that are not spay or spay . The proprietor of the dog does not require the puppies and in most case can not afford to give them the care that they need .
Unfortunately , as Memon and her married man rapidly found out , these type of breeder are everywhere and their pup are typically sickly , malnourished and neglected .
