Being a misunderstood breed can make determine a domicile difficult , but patience paid off .

" She ’s a big cuddle bug,“Clay County Animal ShelterAdoption Manager Bonnie Stone secernate Daily Paws . " She just want attention all the time . "
Jill came to the protection as a stray when she was about a year old . ab initio , her way to a forever home was blocked by the case ofheartwormsshe came to the shelter with . Once she had been cover for the insect , however , the cherubic doggo ’s common sense of dangerous undertaking became something prospective adopters needed to be made aware of .
" She was a fence mounter , " Stone says . " She was really take on out once and we told the gentleman about that , but one Clarence Day he go forth her outside alone and she hopped the fence and took off . So she was returned to us from that plate .
" But the main affair that stand in her way was because she ’s an American pit Taurus commixture . When you call landlords around here , that ’s one of the breeds on the list that ’s a no - no . "
In an area like Henrietta , Texas , where most of the Animal Shelter ’s adopters are renters , that ’s a huge obstruction to overpower , and in Jill ’s typeface , the month draw on and on . Eventually , those months became year . Ten of them , in fact .
" We ’re a no kill protection , so we have had dogs in the yesteryear who never got household , " Stone says . " We had one dog hail to us at six months previous and cash in one’s chips aside here at the age of 14 . So we did have that worry for Jill . "
But finally , on this retiring July 4 , Jill come across her forever person .
Keelie Blassingame , Jill ’s raw hound momma , is also a renter but unlike so many of the other people who had utter an interest in Jill over the year , her landlord did n’t have a specific restriction on any particular breeds . Instead , he just wanted to encounter each frank in person and get a flavor for its personality . Luckily for Jill , personality is where she glitter the brightest . Once the landlord met her sweet , smiling face , the acceptance was given an enthusiastic ovolo up and Jill ( now refer to as " Jillybean " ) was headed to her forever place .
When you ’ve pass 10 years with a pupper as sweet as Jill , permit go is always a sad day . But the good folk at Clay County Animal Shelter know that they ’re only saying so long to Jill because she ’s in conclusion found her soul . And that makes the semisweet solar day worthwhile .
" No matter how long they ’ve been here , they become phratry members to us , " Stone says . " But when they get adopted out , we ’re happy . "
