An Extended Stay With a Goofy Boy
Our doggytailbegins in 2014 , when Olson and her partner , Justin , had their first taste of liveliness with a lovable pit bull . The pair had of late be active to Austin and were mansion - sitting for a booster . Their new roommate , a bully breed type name Murphy , was the everlasting sidekick to serve receive them to their new city .
“ We walked him like , ten time a day , ” Olson laughs . She said Murphy ’s owners had a few simple requests for them to observe while they were away , such as not allowing the pup onto the bed . “ We really tried to honour their rules , but it was tough , ” Olson express joy . Over the next few month , she says the sport - loving pup wormed his elbow room onto both the bed … and into their hearts .
Once they ’d moved into their own place , Olson order they missed their furry Quaker , who ’d been a slap-up introduction to bully breed dogs . She began searchingadoption sitesin hope of adding another “ full goofball ” like Murphy to their family .
A Bovine-Like Beauty Named Bessie
Through Olson ’s connection atAustin Pets Alive ! , a local no - kill shelter , she and Justin found a bedding material of tough breed puppies who ’d been rescued and were now up for adoption . The timing was whole faulty , she says , but they could n’t stop cerebrate about the little pitch-black - and - clean pup from the shelter . “ We were live in a rental that did not allow favourite , we had family coming into town , and we ’d both just started Modern jobs , ” she says . But after a serial of frantic Uber rides during the middle of the workday and a last - bit run forpuppy provision , Bessie Moo officially joined the category .
It was n’t all sunshine and rainbows from the start , though . “ She was a pretty ghastly puppy , ” Olson says . “ She ’d been rent from her mother too ahead of time , and I retrieve the litter had been discover in a box — not an ideal position . ” But after a few months of near - constant care , including treatment forparasites like giardia , lilliputian Bessie made the conversion from sickly to sassy . “ It was a messy start , ” Olson laughs , but since then , the the barker has grown into an emboldened lulu . “ Bessie was our first of the Mini Moos , ” she aver . “ But they ’re just like potato chips … once you have one , you just keep going ! ”
A Playmate for Bessie
From there , Olson pronounce it was just a matter of time before they added another pet sibling to the pack . The 2nd pibble to join the Mini Moo kin group was a scented girl named April , who was found as a significant stray wandering the streets of Fresno . The gray - and - white bully breed had spent about 4 month with her foster mama after her puppies were born , raising her litter and “ learning how to be in a home and a appendage of a family , ” Olson says .
add April to the work party was not a quick summons like Bessie . Olson expend months come the pup ’s story on social medium ( her surrogate wiener mom isNoelani , who extend the @packofpibbles Instagram account ) . During that clock time , Olson says she “ obsessively ” check off Instagram for update on the dog and her pup . Once the puppies were old enough to go to their forever crime syndicate , it was April ’s twist .
“ I post in my program to espouse her as soon as they posted it , ” she says . There were thou of people following April ’s heartwarming deliverance story , so Olson was n’t expecting much of a response . But even though she was several states forth and already had another dog at dwelling house , she get the call say she ’d been selected to take April . But this prison term , estimate out how to get her from California to Texas was more complicated than hop-skip in an Uber like they had done to remember their first four - legged family penis . “ It ’s literally across stack ranges and comeupance to get there , ” she says . So to get the pup home as quickly as possible , she rented a car and made the intact 48 - hour parkway there and back in four days .
Olson sound out watching the “ proud piggle ” ( one of many nicknames April depart by ) has been incredible to see . “ She has really come out of her shell [ since being deliver ] . She was so timid , she would try out to dig holes under Dubyuh and sleep in them . She was a true street dog . ” Now , with a soubriquet like “ majestic piggle , ” you could imagine how spirited the whelp is . “ She is just so joyful and full of lifetime , ” Olson suppose .
And Bandit Makes Three
The third member of the Moo clan is a big , goofy boy name Bandit . He was an emergency rescue who came from Missouri . The shelter he was at had judge him as aggressive with other dogs , and one of the volunteers hit out to Olson for supporter because she dread the sweetheart had been misjudged and would be put down because of his breed type .
Olsonadopted the poochimmediately and inscribe him in a board - and - train facility near their home in Texas to see to it he ’d be a good burst with their other dog . After a few weeks of behavioural training , they slowly introduced the dogs to each other over the course of several meetings in neutral places .
The child of the trio , Olson says Bandit is a “ prominent doofus , just wanted . ” He recently conjoin Vanessa and Justin on a road trip from Austin to Santa Fe . Since Bandit is nervous in the car , Olson says she worked to acclimate him to the backseat leading up to the stumble with several quick daily drive that included a slew of delicacy . From the looks of it , this effective boy is start to delight the risky venture … and will hopefully have many more to come !
What’s Next for the Mini Moos
Olson , a certified yoga instructor , says her eventual dream is to have a station where she can combine her passion for human wellness with animal wellness . In addition to more land , more Canis familiaris , and a bigger fence , she says it ’d take the approval of the female monarch of the house , Bessie Moo , before any more pups join the gang . “ I do n’t eff how many more detent she really wants in our house . ” But for now , you may follow the click ' adventures on Instagram,@minimoos_atx .
