Kimberly Payne was confab her female parent in Whitewater Township , Ohio , on Jan. 25 with her two detent , Bruno and Mavis . Everyone was supposed to continue inside where it was warm and snug , but Bruno is apoodleand poodles are well known for theirintelligence , so when he find a broken door latch allowing him to labor the door unfastened , that ’s exactly what he did .
Once outdoors , with sister Mavis in tow , Bruno set about search . And that ’s when the two dogs made their way over to a neighbour ’s railway yard and out onto a quick-frozen lake . Unfortunately , the chicken feed was n’t thick enough to support two curious doggos , and Bruno and Mavis fall through . The neighbour spotted them struggle in the wintry urine and knocked on the room access , alerting Payne .

Payne send for the flack department and tried to come up with some possibilities for helping her dogs in the meantime . She first consider climbing out onto the ice herself , but she intend better of it and settle for calling out to the dog from the shore in an attempt to keep them afloat .
" I noticed when I would get quiet to examine and catch my breath , he would slew back down under the water , so I just keep say , ' Bruno , Bruno , come on,'“Payne told WKRC .
fire-eater arrived on the scene after about 20 proceedings and were able to climb out onto the internal-combustion engine and bring the dogs to safety short thereafter . The rescue only took brass - wrack eight minutes , according to WKRC .
" The dog had their paws up , and the one dog had really slipped back down off the ice and he was getting really tired , " Whitewater Township Fire Department Lt . Chris Gundrum told the news station .
Bruno and Mavis were taken to the veterinarian and tally out , and it was another two hours before Bruno was able to walk again . However , now both dogs are back home and doing fine , all thanks to the fast action of the Whitewater Township FD .
" give thanks you for the courageousness to go step on that crank ‘cause I know I was scared , too , so give thanks you for your braveness , " Payne said .
