The Obamas are mourning the loss of their beloved dog Bo , aPortuguese piss dogbelonging to the former first family since Barack Obama ’s inaugural year in the presidential authority .
" Today our family lost a true acquaintance and loyal fellow traveller . For more than a decade , Bo was a constant , gentle bearing in our lives — well-chosen to see us on our good day , our bad day , and everyday in between , " said Barack Obamain an Instagram post .
Bo had been combat cancer , explains Michelle Obamain her own Instagram postin court to her pup . Bo was 12 age old .
" On the campaign trail in 2008 , we promised our daughter that we would get a puppy after the election . At the time , Bo was supposed to be a fellow traveller for the missy . We had no idea how much he would mean to all of us , " says Michelle Obama in her affecting tribute .
She continues , " As a family , we will miss Bo dearly . But we are thankful that he lived such a elated life story full of snuggles , game of fetch , and evenings spent lying on the lounge . We also have sex we were n’t the only ones who give care for Bo , and are grateful for all the love you showed him over the years . Please bosom the furred members of your class a little closer tonight — and give them a belly rub from us . "
The Obamasoriginally receive Boas a puppy in April 2009as a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy . After the family had been looking for a shelter dog to saving , Kennedy gifted Bo to the the first kin after the pup had been give to a stock breeder in Texas ( where he ’d gotten one of his own weenie from ) and take to find a loving home . The Obamas later add Bo ’s sister cheery , another Portuguese water dog , to their family in 2013 .
Bo was a constant bearing in the Obama family ’s life throughout the former President ’s two terms in office and beyond . " He was on the nose what we need and more than we ever have a bun in the oven . We will miss him dearly , " says Barack Obama in his post .
