When he first startle school , Evan Bisnauth , 11 , of Bronx , N.Y. , practiced reading by sharing tales aloud to his house ’s dog . But he discover a new purpose two summers ago when his mamma , Amanda Persaud Bisnauth , rescue a whelp who was bond to a fence and take it to one of theAnimal Care Centers of NYC(ACC ) . That program , Books With Boroughbreds , helps kids improve their reading skills by doing exactly what Evan did at home . It also offers pups much - neededpositive socializationandreduces anxiety .
On his first day , he spentfive hoursreading toeverydog in the shelter . " I ’d tell them at the last of the story , ' Do n’t give up . I have a raft of hope for you and I know you ’ll get adopt .
